Wagon Trek - Brittany, France Migration (4th Wave)

For the 4^th Wave, on Mar 14, 1914, a group of Bretons in the Brittany region of France, boarded the steam ship, Sicilian, in Le Havre, France and arrived to Saint John, New Brunswick on Mar 29, 1914.

They took the train to Montreal.  Part of the group continued on to Athabasca, Alberta. From there it was horses and wagons to Plamondon arriving on April 11, 1914.

They homesteaded land south and east of Charron Lake which is located 5 miles west of Plamondon, Alberta. By 1923 they had their own post office which was named Gourin-City in memory of Gourin, Brittany, France where they came from.

All together there were 18 individuals (8 men, 4 women, 6 children – 10 years old and younger).

In the spring of 1915, the remainder of the group arrived to Gourin, Alberta from Montreal where they had spent some time.
