Plamondon and District Museum

Welcome

Our first pioneers arrived in Plamondon on July 28, 1908. With the knowledge and help of the Métis people, our Pioneers survived the first winter. Through our Métis, trapping, music and pioneer displays in our museum, the story unfolds: Travelling by wagons, led by oxen and horses, on the Victoria Trail to the shores of Lac La Biche Lake, and finally settling in a valley now known as Plamondon.

In 1973, a group of White Russians (Old Believers) arrived, and they too have changed the fabric of Plamondon and the surrounding district. Today Plamondon prides itself with three languages being taught in the two Plamondon schools: English, Russian and French.

“It was a real treat to visit your facility on Tuesday July 20th, 2021. The friendly greeting at the front door was most welcoming; thank you! I was particularly struck with the collection of personal items contained in the museum that tell the stories of the many families who have lived in the area. There is a wealth of information in your facility to be enjoyed by very many. “

“I have had the pleasure to visit the Plamondon and District Museum on multiple occasions and each time I do, I find very well thought out and creative displays. It amazes me that certain items were saved from demolition. Specifically, the old post office mail window. What a cool item.”
